
Torrington Savings Bank Awards Three $10,000 Scholarships to Area High School Students
Torrington Savings Bank is pleased to announce the three recipients of its $10,000 scholarships for 2025. Each year the Bank offers graduating high school seniors a 4-year, $10,000 academic scholarship ($2,500 per year) towards college tuition.
Kaitlyn Bullock of South Windsor, graduated from South Windsor High School with a cumulative GPA of 4.0369. She will be attending the University of Connecticut at Storrs, majoring in Allied Health. Kaitlyn was a 3-sport athlete, playing volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse all four years, and named captain of the volleyball team her junior and senior years. A member of the National Honor and Spanish National Honor Societies, she achieved high honors and Academic All-Conference all four years. In addition to being a camp counselor and basketball coach for the South Windsor Park & Rec, she volunteered for South Windsor for the Kids, Unified for Underprivileged Girls, and several Bible camps.
Thomas Suchowolec graduated from Torrington High School with a GPA of 99.8034, ranked 16th in his class. He will be attending Boston University, majoring in public health and political science, with a goal of becoming an attorney. He completed an internship at Yale School of Medicine/Yale Center for Clinical Investigation. He participated in the development of a healthcare model using artificial intelligence and contributed to the presentation and publication of the associated research. His volunteerism includes environmental cleanup projects, and an ER & ICU volunteer and training assistant at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was a member of the varsity cross country team, Robotics Team, captain of the Ethics Bowl Team, and the Science Club. Thomas received numerous awards including the Tracy M. Conway Exchange Club Award, Association of Polish Schools in America Award (received perfect score in Polish Language Examination), and the Avant Award for Biliteracy in Spanish.
Scoville Zielinski of Torrington, graduated from Holy Cross High School with a weighted GPA of 96.71. He will be attending the University of Hartford, majoring in Architectural Design & Technology. Scoville is an Eagle Scout and built the Rainbow Bridge at the Torrington Dog Park as his Eagle project. At Holy Cross, he participated in cross country, outdoor track & field, and tennis. He was also a member of the Chess Club, Engineering Club, Photography Club, and Video Game Club. A member of the National Honor Society, he played lead trumpet in the band and performed in several stage productions. In addition to being a 4-H camp counselor and altar server, he maintains several part-time seasonal jobs.
