Torrington Savings Bank Awards Two Scholarships Totaling $20,000 to Local Students
Torrington Savings Bank is pleased to announce the selection of two outstanding local students as recipients of its annual academic scholarship awards totaling $10,000 each. As part of the Bank’s long-standing commitment to supporting education advancement, the program provides graduating seniors with a four-year scholarship of $2,500 per year to help toward their college tuition.
This year’s recipients exemplify academic excellence and community commitment as the scholarship celebrates:
Nathan Pepler graduated from Torrington High School with a cumulative GPA of 101.6315, ranking 5th in his class. He will be attending Boston University, majoring in Biology with a minor in Spanish. Nate was a member of numerous honor societies, including the National Honor Society, National Thespian Honor Society, and National Science Honor Society. He participated in the marching band and concert band, along with the Chamber Choir. In addition to being on Student Council, he was also a member of the International Travel Club which traveled to Germany, Poland, Iceland, Scotland and Ireland among others. Nate participated in Indoor Track & Field his junior and senior years. In 2025, he participated in several medical internships, including one at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Jack Reynolds, of Litchfield, graduated from Lakeview High School as Valedictorian with a GPA of 4.8934. He will be attending Dartmouth College, majoring in Creative Writing and Mathematics. He completed several Dual Enrollment “ECE” courses with UConn during his junior and senior years. A National Merit Finalist, he is a 2x published author and the recipient of a Harvard Book Award, Above & Beyond Halo Award, and a Mabry Award in Creative Writing. Jack is a 2nd Degree Black Belt, and is a museum guide and volunteer researcher at the Litchfield Historical Society. As a trumpet player, Jack was 1st Chair his senior year, was involved in Concert, Chamber, Jazz, and Pit Orchestra, and studied at Litchfield Jazz Camp in grades 9 and 10. A self-taught piano player, he is also a member of several honor societies, including the National Honor Society.
