 
Torrington Savings Foundation Awards Over $80,000 Supporting Education, Food Insecurity, & Small Business Development
The Torrington Savings Foundation announced grants totaling $80,925 during their spring grant cycle. The awards sustain the mission of investing in community revitalization through education & small business development initiatives.
Highlights of the grants include:
Bristol Boys & Girls Club’s “Future Ready: STEM Education for Tomorrow’s Leaders” program. This program supports expanding access to reliable technology for low-income youth, boosting digital literacy and confidence while supporting academic success through STEM exploration at the Cambridge Park Clubhouse. SOAR Educational Enrichment, Inc was also awarded a grant to support a STEM program at Salisbury Central School in Salisbury, CT.
Women’s Business Development Council’s (WBDC) Launch Pad Grand Program for Women-Owned Small Businesses. This program sets out to support 20 early-stage women-owned businesses in the greater Torrington area over 12 months. The project’s goal is to take business goals from idea to launch through a combination of small grants, technical assistant, advising, mentorship, and networking.
Additional grants were awarded to Community Health and Wellness Center of Greater Torrington, Friendly Hands Food Bank, and New Opportunities to support programs to address food insecurity, and to local nonprofits KidsPlay Children’s Museum, Maria Seymour Brooker Memorial, Susan B. Anthony Project, the Warner Theatre and the Northwestern CT YMCA to support programs that support the health and wellness of local youth.
